Lodge Workshop Manager | Eastern Cape

𝗝𝗗 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is recruiting on behalf of a well-known private Big Five Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape for an experienced and hands-on 𝗟𝗢𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗥

Our client operates a substantial conservation estate with a luxury bush lodge and a diverse fleet supporting guest experiences, staff transport and reserve operations. The organisation is committed not only to conservation and hospitality, but also to creating meaningful development opportunities within the surrounding community. This is an opportunity for a practical workshop professional to play an important role in keeping essential vehicles and equipment operational in a unique reserve environment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day workshop operations, vehicle maintenance, preventative checks, parts and stock control, supplier coordination and a small workshop team. The role will focus particularly on maintaining game-viewing and transport vehicles, responding to breakdowns and recoveries, and working closely with lodge management to ensure the fleet remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose. There will also be occasional assistance with town driving and broader maintenance requirements across the lodge and reserve.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

• Practical experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and equipment is essential
• Hands-on experience with Toyota vehicles is essential.
• Strong organisational skills, with a careful approach to workshop tools, equipment and parts inventory is essential).
• Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments (essential).
• Previous exposure to a lodge, safari or game-reserve environment would be advantageous.
• Experience maintaining or operating heavy machinery, such as tractors, would be beneficial.
• Fleet management or responsibility for a group of operational vehicles would be an advantage.
• Able to work proactively, respond to breakdowns and assist with vehicle recoveries when required.
• Comfortable supervising and supporting a small workshop team.
• Valid driving licence and the flexibility to assist with occasional town trips and general maintenance needs.
