𝐉𝐃 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 is recruiting on behalf of a celebrated and intimate private lodge nestled in the dramatic wilderness of the Cederberg, Western Cape, for a passionate and dedicated 𝗟𝗢𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐅

Our client is a distinctive and highly regarded lodge destination, renowned for its breathtaking natural setting and its genuine commitment to a farm-to-table, seasonally driven food philosophy. Set in one of South Africa’s most iconic wilderness areas, the property offers guests an authentic, off-the-beaten-track experience where exceptional food is central to the overall guest journey.

Reporting directly to lodge management, the successful candidate will take full ownership of kitchen operations – from daily food preparation, breakfast through dinner service, and menu development to stock control, procurement, and HACCP compliance. The role also includes supervising and supporting kitchen assistants and scullery staff. This position demands a chef who thrives in a remote, self-sufficient environment, takes genuine pride in quality and consistency, and is comfortable working with a high degree of independence. Own reliable transport is essential.

Requirements

• A minimum of three years’ experience as a chef in a lodge, guesthouse, or comparable hospitality setting.
• Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution.
• Genuine passion for food with the ability to deliver consistent quality and strong presentation.
• Solid understanding of stock control, kitchen administration, and procurement processes.
• Working knowledge of food safety legislation and HACCP procedures.
• Ability to plan and execute seasonal, farm-to-table menus in consultation with management.
• Capable of managing food cost targets and contributing to kitchen budget control.
• Experience supervising kitchen support staff and delegating duties effectively.
• Self-motivated, calm under pressure, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence – essential for this location.
• Comfortable with, and committed to, a rotational live-in work structure.

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 – R18 000 – R25 000 per month (dependent on experience)

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 – Permanent | Live-in | 3 weeks on / 1 week off
