𝗝𝗗 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is recruiting on behalf of a celebrated collection of luxury safari lodges and camps in East Africa for an experienced and inspirational 𝗟𝗢𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗥

Our client is a respected East African safari collection known for authentic, sustainable luxury experiences. It is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned lodge leader to take the helm of an iconic property within a well-established, guest-centred group.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager will take full ownership of the camp – from the guest experience and service standards to revenue, profitability and team performance. The role involves leading and developing the heads of department, overseeing recruitment, training, coaching and performance management, acting on guest feedback and personally looking after VIP and returning guests.

The successful candidate will drive audit, statutory and health and safety compliance, contribute to the annual budget and keep costs on track, and work closely with the commercial team to position the camp correctly in the market.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

• Proven experience as a General Manager or Lodge Manager of a luxury safari lodge or tented camp – East African experience will be a strong advantage.
• A hospitality management qualification will be advantageous.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting from historical data, cost control and a sound grasp of how revenue is generated.
• A good understanding of the luxury safari market, the competitive landscape and how a lodge is positioned within it.
• Solid food and beverage knowledge, including menu planning and pricing.
• A visible, hands-on leader who motivates teams, develops heads of department and builds a culture of high performance and succession planning.
• A track record of lifting guest satisfaction and hosting VIP guests with warmth and polish.
• Experience with internal audits, statutory compliance and health, hygiene and safety procedures.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests, staff, local communities and head office.
• A clear decision-maker who sets goals, builds consensus and champions positive change.
• A genuine commitment to sustainable, community-focused tourism.
• Comfortable living and working in a remote bush environment.
• Expatriate candidates are welcome but must be eligible for a Kenyan work permit.
• A stable work history and contactable references.
