Country General Manager | Uganda

𝗝𝗗 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is partnering with a leading East African safari and lodge operator to recruit an experienced and professional 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗥 to lead its Uganda business.

The Country General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and operational performance of the Uganda business, ensuring the effective execution of Group strategic priorities while delivering exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Operating within a matrix structure, the role involves implementing Group strategies and policies across finance, human resources, sales and marketing, reservations and information technology within Uganda, while working closely with the Executive Committee and functional heads to ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities include providing executive leadership across all Uganda operations, including camps, lodges, the destination management company and support services, executing the approved country budget and commercial initiatives, and driving consistent service standards and operational efficiency across all properties.

The role also involves building leadership capability within the team, championing talent development and a high-performance culture, representing the business at national and regional level, and strengthening relationships with local communities, authorities and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in business, hospitality management, tourism or finance
• A postgraduate qualification or MBA would be beneficial
• At minimum of 10 years in senior leadership within multi-site safari, lodge or integrated tourism operations.
• Extensive experience gained within the East African market is highly desirable
• Solid grounding in operational and commercial management at a senior level
• A track record of leading organisational change and driving operational excellence
• Stable progressive employment history and contactable references
