Project Manager | Tanzania

𝗝𝗗 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is assisting a leading safari and luxury lodge operator in East Africa in sourcing an experienced and qualified 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗥.

Our client operates a growing portfolio of luxury safari camps and lodges, with an active pipeline of new builds, refurbishments and infrastructure projects across remote sites in Tanzania. Our client is seeking an experienced Project or Site Manager to be permanently based on the ground in Tanzania, with direct experience building lodges and managing construction projects in the region. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable overseeing complex logistics in remote wilderness locations, balancing design intent with practical, sustainable construction methods.

Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors and local teams, the successful candidate will manage projects from planning through to handover. The ideal candidate is permanently based in Tanzania, or an expat with the relevant experience who is willing to relocate, and brings a proven track record of delivering lodge construction projects on time and within budget in remote or challenging environments.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

• Manage the full project lifecycle for new lodge builds, refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades, from planning and budgeting through to completion and handover.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects across different sites and countries, coordinating timelines, resources and contractors.
• Develop and manage project budgets, tracking costs against forecasts and reporting variances to senior management proactively.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, designers and specialist consultants; source, appoint and manage contractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Coordinate logistics for remote sites, including transport of materials, equipment and labour, and ensure compliance with local building regulations and environmental guidelines.
• Implement health and safety standards across all sites, manage quality control and oversee snagging processes prior to handover to operations teams.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

• Minimum 5-8 years’ project management experience in construction, with direct experience building lodges or safari camps; prior Tanzania or East Africa experience essential.
• Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget across multiple simultaneous locations.
• Thorough familiarity with Tanzania’s local building practices, supply chains, contractors and regulatory environment.
• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related field.
• Strong budgeting, cost control, contract management and logistics skills.
• Self-sufficient and resilient, willing to spend extended periods on remote sites with limited amenities.
• Valid driver’s licence; 4×4 driving experience preferred. Permanently based in Tanzania, or an expat willing to relocate; eligibility to work in Tanzania required.
